BRIDGWATER Town are looking to get back to winning ways tonight, after two defeats in the last week saw them slip down to 13th in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division standings.

The Robins had gone down 2-0 away to Bridport last Tuesday night, with their patched-up side condemned to defeat by Liam Sayers and Lewis Clarke's goals.

The five players who missed that match - Tom Ellis and Josh Wadham (suspended), Ryan Brereton and Josh Williams (injured), and Chris McGrath (ill) - were also absent for the visit of Exmouth Town to Fairfax Park on Saturday, with the Devonians profiting from a series of defensive mistakes.

All three Exmouth goals came down the hosts’ left flank, with a whipped cross from the right hitting the unfortunate Dave Thorne and rolling in to give the away side the lead on 14 minutes.

Jordan Greenwood volleyed straight at Exmouth goalkeeper Robbie Powell, before the visitors doubled their lead in the 26th minute - Jordan Harris picking up a pass from Aaron Denny and finding the bottom corner.

Mike Duffy provided the impetus for Bridgwater to pull one back four minutes into the second half, carrying the ball forward and laying it off for Sam Towler to strike.

But a third Exmouth goal, eight minutes later, took the wind out of the Robins’ sails; a fine team move ended with Denny side-footing home from 10 yards.

Bridgwater Town: Jake Viney, Dave Thorne (Dave Pearse 67), Jake Llewellyn, Olly Morris (James Cottrill 89), George Painter, Jordan Greenwood, Mike Duffy (Archie Sturdy 82), Tyne Govier, Jack Taylor, Sam Towler, Adnan Hiroli. Attendance: 238.

Bridgwater will aim to bounce back tonight (7.45pm), at home to Buckland Athletic, before a trip to Westbury United on Saturday (3pm).

The Robins’ fixture at Wellington, abandoned earlier this month due to floodlight failure, has been rearranged for Wednesday, November 4.
