SOMERSET now enter what could prove a defining week in their 2020 season, with three matches across two competitions.

Having collected one win, one loss and one no result from their first three Vitality Blast fixtures, Somerset visit Worcestershire Rapids today (Thursday, 1.05pm - shown live on Sky Sports) and then host Birmingham Bears tomorrow (6.30pm).

They then switch their attention from T20 cricket to the four-day game, and their final Bob Willis Trophy group match at Worcestershire (starting on Sunday, September 6 - 10.30am).

The winner of that game will top the Central Group, and stand a good chance of making the final, to be played at Lord’s over five days from Wednesday, September 23.

Somerset will be without Tom Banton, the 21-year-old batsman having been called up by England to face Australia in T20 and one-day series, which are scheduled to run between September 4 and September 16.

But the conclusion of the England v Pakistan series means that Somerset can now call upon Lewis Gregory (who is not in either squad to face Australia), as well as Pakistan superstar Babar Azam.

The world’s top ranked T20 batsman will be available for Somerset’s last seven group matches in the Blast, plus the knockout stages if they qualify.

Both Babar and Gregory take their place in the 13-man squad named by head coach Jason Kerr for today's match against Worcestershire, who have two defeats and one no result from their opening three games in the T20 competition.

But there are no Overton twins in the squad, with Craig being rested and Jamie joining Surrey on loan for the remainder of the 2020 season, ahead of his permanent move there next year.

Somerset squad: Lewis Gregory (c), Tom Abell, Babar Azam, George Bartlett, Eddie Byrom, Josh Davey, Steve Davies, Ben Green, James Hildreth, Tom Lammonby, Ollie Sale, Roelof van der Merwe, Max Waller.

Friday’s match could see Somerset face Taunton-born Jake Lintott, who will be hoping to make the Birmingham Bears XI.

Lintott, 27, attended Queen’s College - where he is now head of cricket - and the spinner made his T20 debut for his new club at the weekend, taking 1-13 against Glamorgan.

WHILE supporters are not yet able to return for Somerset's matches, the stands at the Cooper Associates County Ground have been filled... with giant targets that mean big money for charity.

As part of Somerset's T20 live stream partnership with Trade Nation, eight 12ft x 8ft TN targets have been set up, and each time the ball strikes these letters during Somerset's five home T20 fixtures, Trade Nation will donate £250 to charity.

This is in addition to them donating £25 for every four and £50 for every six, with each charity promised at least £1,000 at the end of each match, no matter the score.

The beneficiaries of Tuesday's match against Glamorgan were Somerset Disability, VI & Super 1s Cricket, and four more local charities are to cash in over the next couple of weeks.

They are: Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance and Devon Air Ambulance (Somerset v Birmingham, September 4); St Margaret's Hospice Care (Somerset v Worcestershire, September 11); Children's Hospice South West (Somerset v Gloucestershire, September 13); and Portishead RNLI (Somerset v Northants, September 18).
