ONE week on from the launch of its crowdfunding appeal, Bridgwater Town Football Club has passed the £1,700 mark.
The club is aiming to raise £12,500, in order to cope with the financial pressures caused by the season’s termination amid the coronavirus pandemic.
A statement by the executive committee team said that the Western League club’s ability to pay its bills had been “severely compromised”, with all revenue streams having ceased.
The club said: "We are hoping that, with the help of supporters, former players, local businesses and the wider community we can raise £12,500 to help offset the short and medium term financial pressures currently being experienced."
As it stands, 50 supporters have taken the total raised up to £1,740.
Club captain Mark Armstrong said: “Credit to the new committee for stabilising the club over the last few seasons.
“It’s been a lot of hard work and I know it’s a very difficult time for everyone, but please support us if you can.
“This club means so much to so many, and we will come back stronger.”
