Middlezoy Rovers 3, Chard Town 3

MIDDLEZOY Rovers had to come from behind twice on Saturday, in order to claim a point at home to relegation battlers Chard Town.

This was the first time the two sides had played in a competitive fixture, and it was played in very windy conditions.

The hosts went ahead just four minutes in, as Liam Winter played in Alex Male and he lifted the ball over the goalkeeper, but Chard were level five minutes later - Billy Sheahan following up after a free-kick was deflected into his path.

The visitors took a 2-1 lead into half-time, as pressure from James Boyland forced a mistake from Zoy keeper Greg Turner, and Adam Cole was there to provide the finish.

The home side equalised almost immediately upon the restart, as a penalty was awarded for a foul on Dan Luce, and Winter converted from the spot.

Chard went back ahead when Boyland fired home, but it was 3-3 on 65 minutes, as Winter headed in his second of the day from a Luce corner.

Zoy substitute Charlie Bridges was shown a red card in the closing stages, but the hosts almost won it, striking the woodwork late on and having two penalty shouts turned down.

Middlezoy remain fourth in the Premier Division table, and this Saturday sees them visit 15th-placed Clutton (2.30pm).
