BRIDGWATER-BASED trampoline star Laura Gallagher has secured one of a possible two places for Great Britain at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Gallagher, 30, earned the spot for Team GB after making the World Championships final in Tokyo recently.

Performing some amazing routines throughout the four-day competition earned her a place in her first ever Worlds final, and helped secure GB a place in the women’s team final.

Along with her team-mates, Bryony Page and Izzy Songhurst, Gallagher pulled off a quality performance in the team final, securing the silver medals behind the hosts Japan.

To cap off a superb World Championship competition, Gallagher completed a great routine in the final to finish sixth in the world herself.

Speaking after the competition, she said: “My thoughts weren’t on Olympic qualifying. It hasn’t really sunk in yet.

"I’m really pleased with my training performances throughout the competition and I am looking forward to 2020!”

Gallagher is coached by Sue Bramble at Bridgwater’s Quayside Trampoline and Gymnastics Club, where children of all ages can have fun and jump alongside a potential Olympian.
