BRIDGWATER Town co-manager Dave Pearse was delighted with a “really good three points” against a Roman Glass St George side he believes are in a false position in the table.

The visitors arrived at Fairfax Park sat second bottom but caused Bridgwater problems before two goals in the final 12 minutes from Jack Taylor sealed victory for the hosts on Saturday.

“They were very good going forward,” Pearse said.

“They will take points off a lot of teams this season and they won’t be down there for too long.

“But we kept going and ground out a result.”

Stand-in goalkeeper Fraser McDiarmid, on dual registration with Burnham United, picked up the man of the match award after a string of fine saves.

“We are lucky to be able to call on him - he has played Western League before and he had a really good game,” Pearse said.

“Whoever scored first was going to win the game, so his saves were vital.

“It was a good all-round performance and it was a really good win.”

Town are back on the road tonight, taking on Frome Town in the Somerset Premier Cup - a tie which is likely to see Pearse and Karl Baggaley rotate their squad.

The weekend then brings a return to league action as the Robins travel to Bridport in a match moved to 10.45am on Sunday morning due to its place in the Western League groundhop weekend.
