HAMPSHIRE look set to be without two of their key players in Saturday's Royal London One-Day Cup final against Somerset at Lord's.

James Vince and Liam Dawson have both been named in England's 15-man squad for the upcoming World Cup and are therefore unavailable to feature for their county this weekend.

However, there could yet be a twist in the tale as 'The Cricketer' magazine are reporting that Hampshire and the ECB have applied for special dispensation to allow the pair to feature.

Neither were named in England's provisional World Cup squad but Vince has been called up in place of Alex Hales, dropped after his ban for recreational drug use, while all-rounder Dawson has replaced Joe Denly.

Their potential absence on Saturday is a boost for Somerset, as both players have had productive One-Day Cup campaigns.

Vince is Hampshire's leading run scorer in the competition with 509 at an average of 72.71, while Dawson averages 45.86 with the bat and 20.33 with the ball, including 18 wickets.

Dawson took 2-41 in Hampshire's convincing win in Taunton during the group stage.

Elsewhere in the World Cup squad, Jofra Archer has replaced David Willey and Taunton-born Jos Buttler is vice-captain.
