Bridgwater Jupiter 48, Cornwall Storm 66

JJUPITER faced second-placed Cornwall Storm in their last Regional game of the season.

With another new line-up, Jupiter went out to show what they were made of before relegation.

Storm got off to a quick start but Jupiter hit back to end the first quarter only six points adrift.

In the second quarter Jupiter became fatigued but battled on to go in at half-time 24-40.

In the 3rd quarter the defensive duo of Sally Haysham (GD) and Player of the Match Eve Jenner (GK) work together tirelessly to create some amazing defensive play turning over numerous balls and limiting Storm to only 12 goals. Leaving the scoreline at 30-52 going into the final quarter.

Going into the final quarter 30-52 down, Jupiter came out fighting and fed balls into the opposition player of the match Paige Davey (GS) who put the ball away from anywhere, sinking the last goal of the game from the edge of the D as they won the final quarter 18-14.

Saturn 39, Tone 52

SATURN matched Tone goal for goal in the first quarter and trailed by just one.

Quick movement and accurate shooting by Katy Cheese (GA) enabled Saturn to keep in contention finishing the first half 22-24.

In the third quarter, Sammie Griffin (C) tips and turnover and accurate passing into Abbie Newton (GS), helped to keep Saturn chances alive but Tone pulled further away..

In the final quarter, Saturn allowed Tone to pull away despite strong feeds from Ellie Schofield into the shooters which upped the scoring.

Somerset League Division 1

Neptune 51, Rubies 36

NEPTUNE started strongly and the first half brought fantastically well-timed interceptions from Katy Anthony (WD) who then helped the attack bring the ball swiftly down to the shooters who managed to convert.

Sally Haysham (GD), Emily Harwood (GK) and Amy Millar (GK) worked well together to allow the second quarter to finish 21-15 in Neptune's favour.

Chris Durant (C) showed endless energy bringing the ball down the court and in defence which saw Neptune take the win.

Somerset League Division 2

Venus 56, Emeralds 38

VENUS were in great spirits on the starting line against Emeralds for the away meet.

Starting relaxed and confident, play instantly eased into a rhythm of centre pass, edge of the D and in for a shot.

Emeralds' young and sprightly legs proved challenging but Venus pushed every pass to the three-second limit, forcing errors. Jazz Alexander in GD snatched the loose balls to gain possession.

Player of the match Izzy Keane (GA) was on great form, working in sync with Hazel Hucker at GS.

Coming into the third quarter, Venus opened up a 34-14 lead.

Sharon Ethridge GS came on to help increase the lead to 23 while Ashlea Slater (GK) and Cerys Ethridge made great use of the court.

Bridgwater's Under-14s enjoyed a great morning of netball.

The As didn’t quite get the measure of the top-of-the-table Yeovil, losing 30-10, but the youngsters never gave up.

The Bs trailed by five early on but slowly pulled it back to take it in the closing stages, 17-16.

The Under-16s win 44-22 against Paulton 44 - 22, with Alicia Clapp player of the match.

Regional League 3 South

Bodmin 29, Gems 49

SYDENHAM Gems finished their season with a good away win in Cornwall, securing themselves seventh place in the Regional League 3 South table.

Gems started strongly, matching Bodmin as the first quarter finished 9-9.

They played to their strengths in the second quarter, scoring 17 goals to Bodmin’s five.

The visitors maintained the defensive pressure after half-time, again restricting the home side to five goals, while scoring 13 themselves.

More excellent play in the fourth quarter earned the 49-29 victory.

Somerset Division 1

Rubies 36, Neptune 51

RUBIES started their game against Bridgwater Neptune well, only trailing 10-9 after the first quarter.

The Sydenham team continued to put 100 per cent effort into the game, with good shooting coming from the pair of Steph Gibson and Tanisha Birch.

But they were unable to keep up with the pace of the game and the final score was 51-36 to Neptune.

Somerset Division 2

Emeralds 38, Venus 56

EMERALDS began the game slowly, and only managed six goals in the first quarter.

Throughout the game Emeralds had some brilliant interceptions from Charlie Webb, Amelia Williams and Danielle Carter-White.

They began to redeem themselves with great attacking skills, but Bridgwater Venus still won 56-38.
