Les Phillips Cup quarter-final

Calne Town 1, Bridgwater Town 2

IAN Bellinger scored one and made the other as Bridgwater Town edged past Calne Town to reach the semi-finals of the Les Phillips Cup for the second successive season.

The First Division side were eyeing a notable scalp and started on top only for the Robins to take a ninth-minute lead against the run of play, Bellinger latching on to Jack Taylor's pass and sliding a shot in off the post.

Taylor saw a shot saved five minutes later before Jake Viney was called into action at the other end to repel a home attack.

The hosts did get back on level terms just two minutes after the break courtesy of a Matt Hudson header and the remainder of the match was end to end.

A turning point arrived 12 minutes from time when the hosts had a man sent off for a challenge on Harry Horton and it was not long before Bridgwater made their man advantage count.

The winner arrived on 84 minutes and Jake Brown provided it, bravely heading in Bellinger's free-kick to send the visitors through.

The draw for the semi-finals will take place after tonight's remaining last eight ties; Plymouth Parkway host Keynsham Town and Shepton Mallet welcome Willand Rovers.
