Saturn 54, Monmouth 38

SATURN started with a spring in their step and the excellent defensive skills of Lisa Lukins (GD) and Abbie Newton (GK) ensured that Saturn kept the pressure on Monmouth shooters restricting their scoring opportunities.

Saturn upped the pressure and accurate passing by Sammie Griffin (C) into shooters Maddie Kennard (GS) and Katy Cheese (GA) saw Saturn stretch their lead to 30-19.

Monmouth started to fight back and Saturn led by nine going into the final quarter, but fresh legs gave Saturn the edge and they outscored their opponents to seal another good win.

Neptune 40, Harlequins 26

THE first quarter set the tone for what would prove to be a physical encounter.

Katie Harris (GS) and Izzy Innalls (GA) shot accurately over the long arms of the Quins' defence for a 14-8 lead.

The defence of Emily Harwood (GK), Sally Haysham (GD) and Katie Anthony (WD) applied great defensive pressure, enabling Neptune to extend their lead to 26-12.

A cameo quarter for Cerys Etheridge (WA) helped Neptune deal with the increasing physicality of the game and accurate feeding into the circle meant Neptune went into the final quarter 36-19 ahead.

The reintroduction of Hannah Sayer (WA) partnered with the energetic Chris Durant (C) secured Neptune the win at 40-26.

Mars 33, Kingfishers 48

MARS were slower out of the blocks than they’d have liked, giving the home side an early advantage.

Six weeks after the arrival of her daughter, Kayleigh Martin-Haste slipped seamlessly into the goal attack’s position as she made herself available for passes, finishing with accurate shooting.

Alongside her in the attacking circle, captain Becky Kennard (GS) shot with precision after fine passes from wing attack Chris Shaw.

Despite a stronger second quarter, Mars still trailed the home side by seven at half-time.

Eleven down at the start of the final quarter, Mars put together their highest scoring quarter but could not overturn the deficit.
