St Ives 20, North Petherton 26

NORTH Petherton claimed a superb win from their long trip to St Ives, triumphing 26-20 despite playing for over an hour with 14 men.

Arron Gibbs was the man to see red after an early altercation, but Pethy dug deep and led 14-5 at the break thanks to tries from Damian Griffin and Sam Williams, both of which were converted by Jack Rees.

The Cornish side scored first after the break to reduce the deficit to a couple of points, but Aiden Cotton's try gave Pethy breathing space again.

The visitors even secured their bonus point when Mac Taylor went over, Rees converting, and not even a late consolation score by the hosts could take the shine off an excellent away result.

The win sees Pethy climb to seventh, one place and eight points below St Ives.

North Petherton have a break this weekend before hosting Teignmouth on March 2.
