ENMORE Park Seniors began 2019 under new captain Steve Lukins with a visit to the links course at Minehead - and what a day to pick with glorious winter sunshine and no wind to speak of.

Playing with Peter Scott, captain Lukins led the way with a nice 2&1 win.

The other two wins in a six-group contest were Paul Waplington and Mike Sullivan (4&3) and Kevin Lewis with Mike Taylor (1 up) making the final score a very friendly three matches each.

Kevin Burge has won his first competition at Enmore - the Club Stableford. Burge came through Enmore’s Get into Golf coaching programme last summer and subsequently joined.

ANDY Thomas posted the round of the day on Sunday in the Monthly Stableford at Brean.

He racked up a superb 45 points on his way to Division One success.

His round was also enough to the return the 2016 club captain back to a single figure handicap.

Runner-up to Thomas was Phil Hodgson on 38, while Adam Cox took third on 37.

Division Two honours went to Jerry Brueford with his 43-point haul.

He fought off the challenges of two other 40+ scores to take top spot with Graham Foy ending as runner-up on 40 and Martyn Cahill in third spot on 40.

All three players saw their handicaps reduced with Brueford moving now up to Division One next time out.

John Ham was declared the winner of Division Three with his 37-point scorecard.

He ended one point clear of a couple of 36-point returns and, with the better back nine, it was Roger Broom who claimed second spot ahead of Gordy Wheelaghan.

Barrie Tucker won Saturday’s Winter League round but only after a countback with Brian Read.

Both scored 41 points and were three clear of a trio on 38.
