Bridgwater Town 2, Bitton 2

BRIDGWATER Town came from 2-0 down to salvage a point against fellow high-fliers Bitton on Saturday.

Bridgwater made a sluggish start and Bitton took the lead on 25 minutes when Josh Egan fired home after a free-kick wasn't dealt with.

Jake Viney made a smart save to keep the deficit to one at half-time and Jack Taylor spurned a fine chance to level after the restart when he rounded the keeper but shot wide from a tight angle.

Bitton made the Robins pay by doubling their lead just shy of the hour mark through Dean Griffiths, and the visitors then hit the bar three minutes later as they looked to make the game safe.

They couldn't do so and Bridgwater got back into it with a quarter of the match left as the returning Mark Armstrong stooped to head home Jake Brown's cross for his first goal of the season.

With 10 minutes left, Ian Bellinger was fouled inside the area and Jake Llewellyn fired home from the spot to secure a share of the spoils.

Next up for Town is a trip to Wellington on Boxing Day (1pm).

Bridgwater Town: Viney, C. White, Robinson, Armstrong, Begg, Ellis, Brown (Bellinger 78), Towler (O’Halloran 63), Taylor, Horton, Llewellyn.

BRIDGWATER Town Reserves stayed top of Division 1 of the Somerset County League with a 4-1 win at Keynsham Town Reserves.

Cam Birch, Lewis Hembery, Jamie Moss and Callum Ham scored the all-important goals for the Robins.
