GEOFF Sluman, director of rugby at Bridgwater & Albion, admitted that Launceston did everything a little bit better than his side last Saturday, the visitors winning 60-33 at College Way.

Sluman said: “We won’t dress the result up in any way; it was disappointing and not what we were targeting.

“Launceston just did everything a little bit better than us.

“They took their chances, whereas we didn’t capitalise on all our opportunities.

“Add to that a couple of interception tries we gave away and you get the result we did.”

Despite his disappointment, there were elements that Sluman was happy with, and he said that the result was a bit of a reality check for his side.

“We were pleased with the way we kept our shape throughout the game and very pleased with the way the team never gave up and kept pushing for a score.

“We will also take a lot of learning and in all honesty, it probably was a bit of a reality check.

“It is now all about how, as a group, we respond.

“The squad wins together, loses together and whichever result socialises together; that is an important part of the recovery process!

“Therefore, I have no worries about the response being anything other than the right one.”

Tomorrow sees the Albion make the trip to the Forest of Dean to take on Lydney, who are currently 11th in the South West 1 West table.

“A part of the response will be looking forward to our next match at Lydney,” Sluman said.

“We have not played them for several years now, and they have just dropped into this league from the one above.

“They have had mixed results so far but their best comes when they play at home, so we will need to recover quickly and take the game to them on Saturday.”
