SINCE I last wrote for the Gazette it has been a really successful time for the club.

The lads have been unbelievable in the Vitality Blast.

To top the South Group with 20 points is an incredible achievement and one that everyone should be really proud of.

We’ve been saying it all year but there really is a genuine buzz around the place this season.

The performances on the pitch have been excellent and the atmosphere in the dressing room has been absolutely top class.

Hopefully we can win on Sunday and make it through to Finals Day at Edgbaston.

It would be so good to get our hands on that trophy, and it would be great to give the members and supporters something to cheer about.

More than anything it’s been great to get back out on the grass for the 1st XI [against Essex in the County Championship].

It is great to see Tres back out there doing what he does best.

To have played like that after having been away from the first team for so long was very impressive. He’s just a cricketing machine!

How he goes about his business is unbelievable.

His passion for the game is extraordinary and he is still one of, if not the, hardest trainer at the club.

To bowl Essex out for less than 200 was pleasing and it was nice to be back out there with the ball in my hand.

It was also great to see Jamie Overton steaming in and giving batsmen a hard time.

When he’s in the mood he is almost unplayable.

Since my last piece we have also found out that Johann Myburgh will retire at the end of the season.

It’s been an absolute pleasure to play and train alongside him and he will be missed on the field and in the dressing room.

You couldn’t hope to meet a nicer guy.
