BRIDGWATER Town player-manager Dave Pearse felt his side should have had the game won against Cadbury Heath prior to being hit by a late sucker-punch.

Heath’s leveller in the last minute of normal time forced Town to settle for a share of the spoils on Saturday, but Pearse believed the points could have already been in the bag.

He said: “In the first half we played some really good football.

“There were lots of balls going into the box which led to chances, and we need to be more ruthless and start killing teams off by being two or three up at half-time.

“We didn’t get out of third gear in the second half and paid the price.

“Looking at the positives, we are still unbeaten and have two games this week to try and stay that way.”

The first of those is at Hallen tonight (Tuesday, ko 7.30pm), a fixture which is always a challenging assignment.

“It will be tough up there but it’s quite a narrow pitch so, hopefully, we’ll be able to get our set-pieces working.

“Tom Ellis’ long throw is a valuable asset - it’s like having another corner - and he had a good all-round game on Saturday.”

The Robins will have Brett Trowbridge - who played on Saturday having joined on dual registration terms from Street - available for the Hallen match, but he is likely to be back with his parent club at the weekend.

Pearse said: “Brett needs games, so with the players we had out it worked out well to bring him in.

“We should have Harry Horton back for Brislington [on Saturday] after he broke his hand in pre-season, so it will be one in, one out.”
