BRIDGWATER Town came unstuck away to Bristol Manor Farm in their pre-season friendly encounter last night, losing 4-1 to the Southern League side.

Owen Howe - the former Tiverton Town and Salisbury striker - was the difference between the two sides, as he helped himself to a hat-trick.

Dean Stamp also scored for the hosts, while Sam Towler netted Bridgwater's late consolation goal.

The Robins' next match - their seventh friendly of the summer - is tomorrow, away to Paulton Rovers.

The fixture will take place at the Hans Price Academy 3G, Marchfields Way, Weston-super-Mare (BS23 3QP), with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Bridgwater Town Reserves, meanwhile, beat Bridgwater Sports 3-1 on Tuesday night.

Connor Watts, Josh Champion and an own goal settled it for the Robins' second string, as Paul Organ scored for Sports.

The Reserves are back in action next Tuesday (July 31, ko 7pm), against Watchet Town at Bridgwater & Taunton College.

Their opening league match of the 2018/19 season sees them host Hengrove Athletic Reserves in Division 1 of the Somerset County League on Saturday, August 11.

AS for Middlezoy Rovers, they hosted Western League side Wincanton Town, and only narrowly lost out - going down 1-0.

Rovers have been boosted by the news that all of last season's first team playing squad have agreed to return for this campaign.

Their first Somerset County League (Premier Division) match is on Saturday, August 11, at home to current league holders Chilcompton Sports.

Middlezoy Reserves are in Division 3 of the County League this season, with their first game being away to Nailsea United Reserves on August 11.
