ENMORE’S Hannah Woodley has retained the Somerset Ladies’ Championship.

She carded rounds of 73 and 69 at Weston to pick up the title on Sunday, defeating Mendip’s Aimee Sawyer on the 17th.
Woodley has won the trophy in four of the last five years.

Enmore’s Seniors Avalon team got their league campaign back on track with a 4-1 win at neighbours Cannington on Thursday.

The strong wind blowing straight down the course negated any home advantage and there were wins for Clapp & Lukins, Miller & Sullivan, Millar & Marsh and Martin & Westbury.

In Division 1 of the Gents’ Club Medal, Sean Jones won with a nett 73 after countback, pipping Ian Huxtable into second with Tim Ramsey third.

In Division 2, Peter Lyster claimed the spoils with a nett 72, three clear of Tim Bulock and Paul Woodley.

Judith Sperring took the honours in the Silver Division of the Ladies’ Dickinson Barlow with a nett 78 with Melanie Millar second and Julie Ingram third. 

In the Bronze Division, Diane Dee pipped Hilary Cockcroft to the top spot after countback after both shot nett 77s.

On a beautiful first day of May, Enmore Seniors welcomed their friends from the Long Ashton club. 

Although a couple of Enmore’s pairs experienced heavy defeats, the majority of the matches had close finishes with Enmore just coming in victors by 5-3.

Enmore’s winners were Graham Pain with Ian Morrison (1up), Phil Wood with Mike Perry (1up), Peter Robinson with David Brown (2up), Peter Scott with John Newell (2&1) and the two Mikes, Sullivan and Cavill (3&2).

Saturday medal results: Div 1 - Winner Gareth Fairburn net 67, 2nd Andrew Evans net 68; Div 2 - 1st Liam Neal 65, 2 Rob Hodge 69; Div 3 - 1 Peter Stowell 68, 2 Richard Sykes 70; Ladies - 1 Julie Ingram, 2 Stephanie Bristow; Bronze Division - 1 Carol Howe, 2 Julie Stafford. 

Club Night was won by the Captain Paul Thorogood Gorgeous Alexiou and Ed Boyce with 68 points. 

Enmore Royals played away at Oake Manor on Thursday with Oake taking the win 3½-2½.
