NORTH Petherton team manager Pete Woolacott admitted “everything went to plan” in his side’s 32-10 derby victory over Bridgwater & Albion on Friday night, writes Richard Walsh.

Speaking afterwards, he said: “The match was a great spectacle for the very large crowd who came along to watch.

“It was played in the right spirit with the sides respecting each other. The officials were great and the yellow cards that were issued were appropriate.

“I thought we controlled the game well and we knew from the way we have been playing and the number of players we have had returning from injuries over the last couple of weeks that we were the form team.

“After our last two wins over Okehampton and Bideford we went into the game really positively, knowing that our fitness would allow us to come into our own in the last 20 minutes, which I think showed.

“Everything went to plan - we controlled the game and we knew we had to keep the scoreboard ticking over because Bridgwater are a good side.”

Bridgwater & Albion director of rugby Geoff Sluman said: “No doubt about it, this was a disappointing result for us. It is not that we played badly, we actually played quite well.

“There were probably a couple of main differences between the two sides.

“We gave away double digit penalties, two of which resulted in yellow cards. You are never going to win what we knew was going to be a closely competed match with that level of indiscipline.

“Additionally we got into the scoring zone on many occasions and failed to convert that into points, whereas Pethy made the most of all their opportunities.

“We have no complaints about the scoreline. Pethy were deserved winners and played very well. All we can do now is to learn from the experience.”
