BOB Buckler’s yard above Spaxton continued their successful start to the 2015-16 when Say My Name came second at 25-1 in the Handicap Hurdle over two miles seven furlongs at Exeter last week.

The four-year-old was given a superb ride in what by then had become heavy ground by Liam Heard who kept him well placed out wide throughout and then guided him into second spot after a photo-finish, much to the delight of his connections.

The veteran handler who is enjoying a new lease of life since relocating to the Quantocks last year said: “That is exactly why I keep on training to produce horses like Say My Name. He could be a very serious horse to work with looking to the future.

“He has got such a big heart and this year he has matured so much.

“He has got a big future ahead of him and in a couple of years Say My Name will be a top class three mile chaser, a prospect that really excites me.

Buckler added: “I’d love to take him to Cheltenham and who knows it might be sooner than later.

“To finish second in that was race was absolutely brilliant.

“I am just so incredibly excited about it and we bred him.”
