Davidstow National Village Cup - Avon & Somerset Final
Wembdon 265-8 beat Timsbury 94 by 171 runs
WEMBDON progressed to the national rounds of the National Village Cup with a commanding 171-run victory over Timsbury on Sunday.
Half-centuries from Rich Gower (60) and Jon Brockwell (60) fired Wembdon to 265-8 from their 40 overs, with Gower’s runs coming from just 39 balls.
Dan Bingham the dismissed the dangerous Mark Sage in the first over with a good catch from wicket-keeper captain Rich Eckley – and Bingham went on to dismiss the top three to finish with 3-32, whilst Pope chipped in with an early scalp at the other end.
Wembdon never let Timsbury settle as change bowlers Aaron Phillips (2-17) and Paul Goss (2-14) claimed regular dismissals, backed by some good catching from Wembdon.
Aaron Rees the claimed two late wickets as Timsbury were blown away for 94 inside 24 overs.
Wembdon will travel to WEPL side Goatacre of Wiltshire on June 28.
