Minehead Town Youth Under-12s 3, Wembdon Youth Under-12s Dragons 5

THE biggest challenge for both teams straight from kick-off was always going to be judging the trajectory of the ball in the strong wind blowing around Allerford Recreation Ground.

But Wembdon immediately showed signs of their improved training methods with a great Alfie Griffin pass through the middle setting Jack Williams off – and he scored in the first minute with a strong shot that gave the ’keeper no chance.

More Dragons pressure followed and when the first Minehead attack broke down on the edge of the box in the fifth minute, a counter-attack led to another fantastic Griffin pass from his new central midfield role that set Robert Fieldhouse off for another good strike and Dragons’ second goal.

Another good ball from midfield set Williams off towards goal and a great shot from the edge of the box flew past the ’keeper for his second and Wembdon’s third.

Minehead scored their first after another good Travis Moore save was followed up for a close range goal a minute later.

Marcus Sewell hit the bar before the linesman spotted a handball and gave Griffin the chance to score from the spot and make it 4-1.

Minehead struggled to cope with the pace of the Dragons frontline and Lewis Baker scored their fifth on his return to the team.
