Somerset First Division
Brislington Reserves 1, Middlezoy Rovers 4
MIDDLEZOY clawed themselves into the promotion mix with a superb 4-1 victory at Brislington - who were previously unbeaten at home this season.
Steve Hall supplied the first with an excellent cross finished by the head of Andy Smith.
The final touch came after a flowing move which featured some incisive passing down the right.
A few minutes later Paul Atyeo crossed for Charlie Lintell who was denied by Ross Hamilton in the Brislington goal at point blank range.
Dan Luce also had a couple of half chances after good hold up play by Atyeo, but failed to hit the target.
The home side were frustrated for large parts of the first half and were unable to breakdown a well organised Middlezoy side.
Clarke Taylor equalised for Brislington early in the second half against the run of play.
Undeterred by the equaliser, Middlezoy continued to dominate and were creating chances at will.
Lance Turner missed a glorious opportunity to give Middlezoy the lead and Dan Luce's header hit the post just after that.
Craig Wright also missed a guilt edged chance before Dan Luce scored on 52 from close range to give them the advantage.
Middlezoy substitute Mike Southgate got a deserved third on 81 minutes from a through ball by Andy Smith.
The fourth was assisted by Southgate and buried by the impressive Dan Luce in the final minute.
Star Man: Andy Smith - Middlezoy Rovers Team: Baker, Hall, Brown, LTurner, Lintell, Cann, Smith, Luce, Temlett (Jennings), Wright (Bone), Atyeo (Southgate).
