WEMBDON Academy produced a run-fest this weekend as they thrashed Cranmore by 317-runs in Division 8N of the Somerset Cricket League.

Wembdon amassed 396 from their 45 overs, thanks to 186 from R Weber.

R Paull also added 63 and Mark Hopkins scored 38, before Cranmore were shot out for just 79. R Weber backed up his century with 3-18, whilst J Chillingworth took 3-21.

Elsewhere in that division, Chilton Polden II beat Burnham II by 9 runs, thanks to a strong performance from J Owens.

Batting first, Chilton posted 262-9 thanks to 45 from Owens and 38 from L Darlington.

In reply, Burnham could only manage 253-6 from their 45 overs, as Owens followed up his batting display with 3-44 with the ball.

In Division 1, Middlezoy fell 25 runs short of Ashbrittle’s 223-6, despite 77 from M Troman. N Barnard (46) provided good support to Troman, but they were unable to get over the line.

Earlier, I Bishop had taken 3-43 for Middlezoy to help keep Ashbrittle below 250.

North Newton beat Wincanton by 33 runs in a low scoring affair in Division 2. C Street top-scored with 36 for Newton to help them to 146-8, before taking 3-21 to help bowl Wincanton out for 113. P Jenkins (3-19) and C Barrington (2-32) also chipped in with wickets for Newton.

Kilve were comfortable 7-wicket victors over North Perrott on Saturday thanks to a powerful bowling display.

Perrott were bowled out for 81 as J Darrell (3-5), G Stone (3-30) and C Clemenson (2-10) blew away their bating line-up.

In reply, Kilve had little trouble in reaching their target and coasted home by seven wickets. S Lloyd (30), A Martin (23) and C Taylor (21not) guided their side to victory.

In Division 7, Middlezoy lost by 128 runs to Winscombe as they failed to chase down an imposing 285-2. N Peppard (40), G Purchase (22) and C Searle (22) all made starts, but failed to go on to anything significant as Middlezoy feel well short of their target.

Wembdon Wyverns made light work of Lydford as they bowled their opposition out for just 51 in Division 8S.

R Pigden (4-3) and K Rawles (2-8) combined to tear the heart out of Lydford’s innings, before S Pigden (26not) and J Prior (14not), took their side to victory.

IN Division 9NW, D Russell smashed 163 for Bridgwater Sports as they beat Weston by 141 runs. Bridgwater posted 350-4 from their 45 overs, with B Winter (65) also added a half-century for Bridgwater. Winter then took 3-7 as Weston were bowled out for 209 and was well-supported by G Howes (4-37) as Bridgwater cruised to victory.
