TRAINEES from Bridgwater College have scooped six awards at a construction competition organised by the industry’s training board.

The apprentices headed to South Devon College in April to take part in the first round of Construction Industry Training Board’s (CITB) Skill- Build competition.

Over 100 construction trainees from across the South West battled it out in their chosen trade, with skills such as bricklaying, wall and floor tiling, and painting and decorating all being put to the test.

Student Anthony White, 20, got first place in senior bricklaying while eighteen-yearold David Sparkes placed first in senior cabinet making.

Ayden Hockey, 21, got third place in new entrant bricklaying, Oliver Downs, 17, came second place in the new entrant cabinet making , Matthew Harris, 17, achieved second place in new entrant joinery and 21-year-old Nadia Connabeer placed second in senior joinery.
