With flurries of snow falling across parts of Britain, the freezing wintry conditions have provided some picturesque scenes.

While those expecting a thick blanketing were mostly disappointed, some parts of the country were painted white with frost and ice instead.

The Met Office has issued an ice warning for most of England and all of Wales and Northern Ireland that also reaches up into southern Scotland.
