The management team of Nick Delong and Phil Hicks has departed Bridgwater United, the club has announced.
In a statement posted on its X (Twitter) account, Bridgwater United said that the ‘challenge of expectations does not align’ with the club’s.
The club said: “Bridgwater United regretfully announce the departure of our management team of Nick Delong and Phil Hicks.
“They took over in June when just two senior players remained from last season.
“It is to their huge credit that they won three of their first four games at the start of this season.
“They felt that the challenge of expectations from the club does not align with theirs which is unfortunate.
“They wish to thank the club’s owner Ian Davis who is desperate for the club to succeed and to all the staff behind the scenes.
“Nick and Phil are now taking a break and look forward to another challenge.”
Ian Davis, club owner, said: “I’m very sad to see Nick and Phil leave, but I fully understand their decision.
“They inherited a difficult situation following a close season of upheaval.
“They are both great guys who have done a great job in exceptional circumstances.”
