Spaxton Cricket Club are offering cricket opportunities to children ahead of the new season.

On the back of their promotion last summer, the club will begin their new campaign in Division 3 of the Somerset Cricket League.

The season will start away at Street on Saturday.

However, it is not just league success that is a priority for the club.

Youngsters aged between 5-11 are invited to partake in junior programmes, ensuring a long-term future for cricket in Spaxton.

The Junior National Programmes, which aim to provide an introduction to cricket, will return on June 7 and run for eight weeks.

The first programme, All Stars, targets children aged 5-8 and will occur on Friday evenings from 6.30pm until 7.30pm.

For an £30 fee, participants gain eight weeks of coaching and a free personalised All-Stars T-shirt.

The second programme, Dynamos, is designed for those aged 8-11.

The £40 fee includes eight weeks of training and a personalised New Balance T-shirt.

Alongside the sessions, Spaxton Cricket Club plans to host a weekly BBQ and offer refreshments.
