MAJOR plans to completely transform Stogursey’s Victory Hall have been submitted this week.

After years of discussion and planning Valerie Boxhall, from Stogursey and District Victory Hall Committee, said it was ‘exciting’ to have the plans submitted.

“It has taken a long time getting to this stage, there is a lot of work to put together a project like this,” Mrs Boxhall said.

“We are all volunteers and we have had to learn a lot along the way about funding, health and safety, logistics such as locating electrical cables and even ecological surveys and great-crested newts.

“It has not been simple but we are confident it will be worth it.”

The committee has been successful in obtaining funding for the new village hall which will replace the existing hall, which dates back to the 1950s.

The current hall is in poor condition with high maintenance costs.
Mrs Boxhall said one of the key improvements would be the new changing facilities which can be used by the football team.

“These will be up to FA standards with home and away changing rooms and a room for the officials for the local football club to use,” she said.

“There will also be an industry-standard kitchen facilities which will enable the hall to host weddings, birthdays and other parties.”

A new parking area will also be provided with ‘permeable blockwork’ planned to replaced to replace the existing tarmac.
