NORTH Petherton Community Centre will be able to cater for food for up to 100 people thanks to the hard work of volunteers.

The centre has a brand new £35,000 kitchen complete with modern facilities ready to host large events - a project spearheaded by the community centre's committee members Brian and Jean Turner.

The dream was made possible thanks to grants awarded by Sedgemoor District Council, North Petherton Town Council and North Petherton Connect.

Brian Turner said: "I am delighted to see the finished product. It has been a lot of hard work by the team to get this project off the ground, we stripped out the former kitchen ourselves.

"We believe this new kitchen can be a real asset to the whole community."

The committee said they were delighted with Richard Jones of Factory First who managed the kitchen refurbishment and Guest Electrical who carried out the electrical work.

The team had a successful first run, with the kitchen being officially used for the first time during North Petherton Carnival earlier this month.

North Petherton Community Centre is suitable for a wide range of uses and can be hired for both single events such as dances, wedding receptions, conferences and sales, or block-booked for regular weekly, fortnightly or monthly events.
