A COLLECTOR of royal memorabilia is sharing his pride and joy with Bridgwater’s public, displaying items in a town centre jeweller’s to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Lenny Carroll, 72, of Riverside Close, is showing his collection at Rossiter & Sons Jewellers, situated between WH Smith and Costa.
Lenny said: “The first piece I collected was a coronation mug when I was a boy and and it has just gone from there. People will enjoy seeing the collection. I did something similar for the silver and golden jubilees.”
Mr Carroll’s collection includes a miniature set of crown jewels, a coach featuring the Queen with the rider and royal horses and the Duke of Edinburgh wearing a bearskin tunic in celebration of the Trooping of the Colour.
Mr Carroll has mixed with Royalty, from the Queen to the Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Anne and Prince Andrew.
“I also met Princess Margaret while I was stewarding at Pall Mall Travellers Club,” he added. “We were asked to help with the engagement party to her first husband. I also worked for the British Embassy in America at one stage, where I met Lord Mountbatten.”
