CHILTON Trinity Technology College is celebrating after achieving its best ever set of GCSE exam results.

A total of 66% of students earned five or more A*-C grades, with 71% of students gaining a C grade or higher in English Language.

Science was another high point as 86% of students scored two C grades or higher in the subject.

Head teacher Pat Hollinghurst said: “Across the ability range there are many outstanding performances and overall students have achieved very well.

“Their success is a credit to all the staff at both Chilton Trinity and of course our partner primary colleagues who laid the foundations and those lecturers who deliver courses at Bridgwater College – all of whom have helped our students grow as learners.

“That they are also equipped to be responsible, thoughtful and caring members of our community is due in no small measure to the fantastic support from our parents and carers who are key partners in their development as good citizens.

“I am so proud of them all and look forward to them building on their successes in the future.”

Student Michael Dobson performed exceptionally well this year by achieving 13 A*s and two As.

CHILTON Trinity Technology College has confirmed it is challenging a “number of disappointing” results with exam board AQA.

Currently 39% of the year group achieved five or more GCSEs with English and maths, and the school hopes this amount will increase after an investigation.

Head teacher Pat Hollinghurst said: “The school is actively investigating a significant number of anomalies with regard to the maths results to ensure that students gain the grades they deserve.

A spokesman for AQA said: “Our advice to any school that has concerns about their results is that they should contact us. We have well established procedures in place to deal with such queries.”
