THE Bridgwater-based Sedgemoor Citizens Advice Bureau can expect its already busy workload to increase following the recent Government announcements about benefit changes and job losses.

So a £50,000 boost to fund a major refurbishment and create extra workspaces for staff would certainly come in handy.

And that's what the offices in West Quay could receive, if the Sedgemoor CAB emulates the achievements of Bridgwater Arts Centre last year, by winning money in ITV's The People's Millions scheme, to pay for its Refreshing the Face of Advice project.

Volunteers at the CAB, a charity which gives people vital advice on a wide range of issues, currently have to use second hand furniture and work in a cramped environment.

Bureau manager Joan Saddington said: “It really is in a shocking state of disrepair. Everything is crashing around us and it's time it got sorted out.

“Because of the Spending Review announcements, we fully expect to see numbers increase and that is going to fall on our shoulders.

“This money would really help.”

The CAB will go head-to-head against Devon's Atherington Pavilion Project on The People's Millions, on November 23 - don't forget to pick up the phone and make your vote count.
