SEDGEMOOR district councillors are likely to opt against a hike in car park charges next year, because figures suggest it won’t coin in any more cash.

A report for next Wednesday's executive meeting says the last time councillors raised parking charges, by an average of 23% in 2008, hardly any extra money was raised as fewer people paid to park.

The report recommends freezing the cost of one-hour and two-hour tickets, but the charge for longer stays could rise by more than 2.5% to combat a VAT increase.
