CHILDREN from more than 15 schools around Bridgwater were given awards for the after school hours they spent taking part in arts, sports and recreations.
Bronze, silver and gold awards were handed to 180 children at the graduation ceremony of the Somerset Children's University at the town hall last Monday.
The extra-curricular activities helped the children learn new skills and develop interests and hobbies that will be with them for the rest of their lives.
Fiona Macmillan, principal of Bridgwater College, said: “Even a hobby like fishing can be a platform to going on to higher education and a degree in areas such as environmental science, fishery management, water conservation and fish husbandry.”
