EAST Bridgwater Community School, Penrose School and Haygrove School will be eagerly awaiting the results of tomorrow's (Wednesday's) spending review, to see how much is cut from the Department of Education.
Those three schools missed out on being rebuilt under the Building Schools for the Future project, but there is still hope funding will become available.
The schools will not find out until the James Review in December whether they will receive the go-ahead to be rebuilt, but the level of funding at the Department of Education may give a clue as to their chances.
Anne Fraser, chairman of Bridgwater Education Trust, said: “The vision and need has always been for six new schools on four sites to meet the needs in Bridgwater and that has not changed.”
Bridgwater MP Ian Liddell-Grainger said he would keep fighting. He said: “I can't promise we are going to succeed, but we have got to continue the dialogue - Haygrove and East Bridgwater both need new schools.”
