THIEVES snatched nearly £20,000 worth of new TVs in a night-time raid in Bridgwater.

An unmanned HGV trailer loaded with 39 32-inch Sony Bravia flat screen televisions was attacked some time between Saturday night and Sunday morning last week.

All the TVs, with a combined value of £19,500, were stolen from the vehicle, which was parked on the Wylds Road Industrial Estate.

Investigating officer, PC Dan Mason, told the Mercury nobody was inside the vehicle at the time.

He said: “The wagon was loaded up and left unattended overnight ready to be delivered the next day so thankfully no-one was hurt.

“The stolen televisions are all really quite fancy and worth about £500 each so we are really keen to trace the culprits.”

PC Mason has appealed to anyone with any information on the raid as he has had little to go on so far.

He added: “No-one has come forward yet to assist our investigation and we have no suspects at this stage.

“There were no other similar incidents reported at the time so we don't have anything to link it to.

“Someone, somewhere must be trying to sell the TVs so we would like to hear from anyone who may have been offered one, or was in the area at the time and saw suspicious activity.”

Anyone who can help the investigation is asked to contact PC Dan Mason 2141 at Bridgwater police station on 0845-4567000, or Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.
