DID you catch the England football team's win over Croatia, any of the X Factor dramas, or even last week's controversial Question Time?

Well neighbours at Bridgwater's Connaught House certainly did not.

Stephen Fern, who lives in the building on Fairfax Road, claims most people in the 16-flat block have had no television signal for nearly two months.

Disgruntled Stephen told the Mercury he was thoroughly fed up with missing his favourite telly treats - and is now demanding action.

He said: “About two months ago I was watching television when bad signal caused it to stop working properly.

“Since then it has not been fixed - nobody knows what is going on.

“I just bought a new £200 television but have not been able to watch it.”

The 54-year-old added that he had been forced to take his mum Audrey round to her friend's house to watch her soap operas.

Stephen insists he contacted Homes in Sedgemoor, which manages the building, last month - but the organisation claims to have only known about the problem since October 5.

A spokesman for Homes in Sedgemoor said: “We have been notified by some people in the building about problems with picture quality or televisions not working.

“We are under the impression that more people in the building are affected.

“Engineers visited Connaught House to assess both the aerial and the electrics at the property, which were found to be in good working order.“ The spokesman apologised for the problem and promised to keep working to find the fault.
