A 25-YEAR-OLD man from Bridgwater has been arrested in connection with an incident which has left another man seriously injured in hospital.

According to a police spokesman, patrolling officers were notified by ambulance crews at 12.15am today of an incident in Penel Orlieu.

A 26-year-old man, believed to be from the Bridgwater area, had been found unconscious with a head injury in the Palace nightclub.

He was taken to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, where his condition is not currently known.

A 25-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of GBH and remains in custody.

According to witnesses, police officers were in the area for more than an hour afterwards asking people for information.

And today officers are continuing their appeal for information about the incident.
