Somerset beachgoers can take advantage of free parking at two popular coastal spots from today (July 1).
Somerset Council has confirmed that parking charges at Berrow and Brean beaches have been suspended for four months, running until November 1, 2026.
The move is aimed at supporting local businesses and encouraging more visitors to the area during the peak tourism season.
A Somerset Council spokesperson said: “From 1 July to 1 November 2026, car parking at Berrow and Brean Beach will be free of charge.
“This has been made possible thanks to the support of Hinkley Point C, which is helping local businesses affected by the construction of the new power station.”

The beaches, which are popular with day-trippers from across Somerset and beyond, have previously seen parking charges in place during busy periods.
Council leaders hope the temporary removal of fees will provide a boost to traders, hospitality venues and tourism operators along the coast.
The initiative follows previous efforts to offset disruption linked to the Hinkley Point C project, with funding used to support economic activity in surrounding areas.
Visitors are still being reminded to park responsibly and follow any local restrictions while enjoying the coastline.
