A historic burial ground in Bridgwater has received a boost in restoration efforts.
A team of enthusiastic volunteers from Wessex Water dedicated their annual charity support day to the Friends of the Wembdon Road Cemetery.
The group, formed in 2010, have been working to reverse decades of neglect at the cemetery opposite the Quantock and Turner’s Optometrists.
The small team of volunteers have been working each Sunday to cut back weeds, repair memorials, and restore the cemetery.
Welcoming the 12-strong Wessex Water team, the Friends of the Cemetery were ready to tackle the overgrown grounds.
Equipped with gardening tools, the volunteers trimmed hedgerows, tidied shrubs and trees, and removed ivy from memorials.
Their efforts filled more than 40 dumpy bags with branches, brambles, and ivy.
A spokesperson for the Friends of the Cemetery said: "We are incredibly grateful to the Wessex Water volunteers for their hard work and enthusiasm.
"Their help has made a significant difference, and we cannot thank them enough."
Wessex Water's volunteer team leader, Paul Elson, said: "It was an absolute pleasure in volunteering to help the Friends of Wembdon Cemetery.
"It was great to hear about the history of the site and to make a contribution to helping to maintain such a beautiful area."
Each year, Wessex Water employees dedicate a day to support charities and causes.
