North Newton people have shared reminiscences about the converted phone box located on Village Hall land.
Approximately five years ago, the kiosk was converted into a Book Exchange.
But it started its new journey apart from being a phone box around 2008, when North Newton Village Hall received an offer to purchase the box from BT for a price of £1.
The telecom company's offer was part of a wider community purchase programme and the Village Hall accepted, with then-Secretary Louise Baker filling out the purchase form and, because payment was cash-only, taping a pound coin to it.
BT transferred ownership to the community, removed the telephone apparatus, and decommissioned the phone box.
Judy Brown, a committee member at the time, suggested turning the phone box into a photo gallery.
It became Somerset's smallest art gallery, featuring in regional news and radio.
Changing every three months, the kiosk's exhibits covered an array of themes and showcased 1,200 photos within a decade.
After this period, David and Sam Hermerlin turned the phone kiosk into a Book Exchange.
Today the kiosk's outside is adorned with designs and street art, and year sixes from North Newton Primary School have contributed art based on books they have enjoyed.
