A Puriton pre-school has been rated good by Ofsted, after a recent inspection.

The Sunshine Pre-School earned the accolade in an Ofsted assessment on May 15, 2024.

Operating from Puriton Village Hall for more than 40 years, the pre-school provides education for children aged 2-4.

Ofsted praised the warm welcome given to children and their families at the village school.

They said that "Children develop a love of books", "children excitedly try out their ideas and squeal with delight", and also found that "children move around confidently making independent choices".

Joint managers Hayley Holl and Hannah Wylde have expressed their satisfaction.

They said: "We are delighted Ofsted noted our ambitious curriculum, and how we foster children’s curiosity encouraging them to join in and investigate.

"Our strong relationships with parents are key to our success.

"It was a pleasure to show our provision.

"The children as always were a delight, they made the inspector very welcome.

"We have a drive to continue to build on our good work."

Further key observations were that staff make excellent use of books to extend children’s learning.

Opportunities are created for problem-solving, and children have a positive attitude towards learning.

The children also learn how to live healthy lifestyles and have well-behaved, play.

Sunshine Pre-School accepts 2, 3, and 4-year-olds with government funding and operates every Monday to Friday during term times between 9am and 3pm.
