A MAN was taken to hospital with a suspected stab wound after an “altercation” in Bridgwater town centre yesterday evening.

Officers were called to Fore Street shortly before 7.30pm on Saturday in response to an incident involving a group of people.

The man was taken to hospital by paramedics and has since been discharged. Police enquiries are ongoing.

The force has appealed for witnesses with information that may help their investigation to come forward by calling the 101 non-emergency line.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “We were called at 7.26pm on Saturday, May 25 to a report of an altercation between a group of people in Fore Street, Bridgwater.

“Officers attended, alongside the ambulance service who took a man was taken to hospital with a suspected stab wound. He has since been discharged.

“Enquiries are ongoing. If you have any information which could help our investigation, please call 101 and quote reference 5224134382.”
