Liverpool are interested in Cumbrian goalkeeper James Trafford, according to reports.

It is claimed the Anfield club are keeping tabs on the Burnley keeper, from Greysouthen.

Trafford is approaching the end of his first season as a Premier League No1, having been first choice for the Clarets until recent weeks.

The 21-year-old, an England Under-21 regular who was also promoted to the senior Three Lions squad last month, has only been with Burnley since last summer, having joined from Manchester City.

But according to Football Insider, Liverpool are monitoring the ex-Carlisle United academy keeper.

The report says they have "concrete" interest in Trafford as an option given uncertainty over the long-term future of second-choice Reds keeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Trafford has made 28 appearances in his debut top-flight season but has been on the bench for recent games with Burnley boss Vincent Kompany preferring Arijanet Muric.

Second-bottom Burnley are two points from safety in the Premier League with three games remaining - while Liverpool are said to be closing in on Feyenoord's Arne Slot as successor to outgoing manager Jurgen Klopp.
