A Bridgwater primary school's eco-club has received a huge boost.

Stogursey C of E Primary School, with funding from Wessex Water, has purchased a polytunnel.

With help from a team of volunteers, it was ready for use in time for spring.

Headteacher Gary Tucker said: "I'm delighted that we have won this award, and it is testament to the dedication of our Eco-Club including the children but also our volunteers Teresa, Ian and Liz who give up their time weekly to run such an exciting addition to our school.

"The new polytunnel is a fantastic addition that will help us grow more.

"I can't wait to see what they achieve next."

The school also secured the Royal Horticultural Society Schools Level 3 Award recently, proving the children's ability to identify plants, care for them, and demonstrate how they grow in an environmentally-friendly way.

They now hope to distribute flowers around Stogursey village and contribute to community lunches.

A solar-powered watering system is also in the pipeline, courtesy of additional funding.
