A Somerset housebuilder has launched a quest to find its longest standing owner to mark its 50th anniversary this year.

Redrow, which has been responsible for building over 150 developments in the South West since 1988, is eager to hear the unique stories of original and long-term residents.

It is inviting those living in Bridgwater, Taunton, Chard, Weston-Super-Mare, Cheddar, Beckington, and Winscombe to share their experiences, with residents in several long-standing Redrow developments such as Knight Stone Island and Woodborough Grange encouraged to participate.

As a reward for their contribution, the longest standing Redrow customer will receive a prize of £500 for sharing their story.

Sian Smith, sales director for Redrow South West, said: "This is an exciting year, as we look ahead to commemorate our 50th anniversary, and we can’t wait to celebrate with all the people who make Redrow what it is.

"We hope to hear from you, whether that’s an interesting homebuying tale or a story of your life in one of our homes."

Bridgwater Mercury: Could you be in line to win the £500 prize?

Redrow was founded in 1974 by Steve Morgan CBE, who started the company with a loan of £5,000 from his father.

The company has since built over 120,000 homes, housing the equivalent population of Nottingham.

Recently, Redrow made strides towards more sustainable living by being the first large housebuilder to introduce air source heat pumps with underfloor heating as standard in all new developments.

In addition to building homes, Redrow has also been active in supporting local communities.

Over the past year, the housebuilder has donated £10,000 through its regional community fund to support a variety of charitable projects across the South West region.

As part of its 50th anniversary celebration, Redrow is encouraging customers who believe they may have lived in a Redrow home for the longest time to send their entries to communications@redrow.co.uk.

Please note, winning participants will need to consent to photographs and potential media placement.

The company maintains that the £500 prize will be awarded to one homeowner who has lived in Redrow properties the longest.
