A NURSERY which opened in Bridgwater less than two years ago is celebrating its 'good' rating from Ofsted following a recent inspection.

It was the first ever Ofsted visit for Little Adventures Nursery in Victoria Park on Tuesday, January 16, and staff at the centre are 'so proud' of the result

The nursery was commended for its 'versatile and adaptable approach to the curriculum' which helps make sure children who need targeted support, receive it - the special educational needs coordinator was also praised.

Other positives mentioned in the report include the nursery's commitment to prepare children for early writing skills and gaining control of their bodies, staff support to children to help develop their communication and language skills, an early introduction to simple maths, and the overall focus to help children gain the skills they need in preparation for school.

Parents of children at the nursery reportedly 'speak highly of the setting and form good relationships with staff', and are kept informed via the means of newsletters, phone calls, meetings, and daily updates.

The Ofsted report also detailed that management at Little Adventurers are aware of the strengths and areas for further development of the nursery.

Inspector Marie Swindells wrote that there is 'a clear strategic vision for the nursery and future improvements' in place.

The only points the nursery was advised to work on in order to 'further progress', are as follows:

  • Improve staff skills to support quieter children to extend their vocabulary further.
  • Provide children with more targeted support to identify shapes, patterns, and size in the environment.

Speaking on the inspection, Little Adventures Nurseries group director, Tom Filer, said: "We’re so proud of the team for this incredible achievement, it’s a great reflection of the high levels of care and nurture that our teams provide every single day”.

"It’s a very well-deserved outcome to sit alongside our recent award wins and becoming a Top 20 UK Nursery Group on popular nursery parent review site daynurseries.co.uk”.

"We have recently launched a brand new, innovative learning curriculum which the inspector specifically praised on how we ‘successfully promote children’s learning.'"
