A LOCAL police officer from the Sedgemoor Neighbourhood Policing team has been nominated for an award after single-handedly apprehending a murderer.
PC Chris Hinchliffe has been shortlisted for the Avon and Somerset Force Value awards in the 'Courageous' category.
Chris single-handedly apprehended a murderer in October last year, and also attempted to save the life of a victim whilst awaiting assistance from other emergency services.
Sergeant Esther Lawson of the Sedgemoor Neighbourhood Policing team said: "The courage and determination that Chris showed during this traumatic incident is a shining example of this force value in his actions last year and we are all very proud of him."
PC Hinchliffe is one of just three finalists up for the award.
He was handed his official invitation by Sergeant Lawson on Thursday, February 22, which was met with huge applause and admiration by his colleagues.
The annual awards aim to recognise outstanding policing, good work and making a difference to local communities in the force.
