This community-oriented event, a result of a grant from Bridgwater Town Council and a price reduction from the cinema, was an example of the charity's dedication to combating loneliness among older people.

Kate Barrington of Age UK Somerset said: "We were delighted with the response to this free event and that we were able to find an extra 100 seats at short notice to avoid disappointment!

"It was a good choice of film as everyone said they thought it was excellent.

"Our charity does a lot to help keep loneliness at bay for older people and it was so lovely to see the guests, many of whom had come by themselves, getting to know each other after the film.

"It made all the work that had gone into making the event happen worthwhile."

Age UK Somerset, an independent local charity, offers services, information and support to the older population of Somerset and North Somerset.
